  Mumbai: The Bombay High Court dismissed a petition challenging the exemption granted to turban-wearing Sikh men from wearing helmets while driving two-wheelers. The High Court said that this exemption was not given on the basis of religion, but on the basis of reasonable classification. Justice Urmila Joshi-Phalke and Justice Nivedita Mehta of the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Monday dismissed the petition filed by 23-year-old student Kirtesh Chaudhary. What did the High Court say? The petition challenged the provision of Section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act, under which this exemption was granted. The petitioner claimed that this provision violated the right to equality guaranteed under the Constitution. Mumbai: Byculla police said that the 39-year-old man arrested for distributing zinc phosphide tablets to people participating in the Muharram procession in Byculla last week is a resident of Pune. He arrived in the city about two weeks ago and was staying at a cheap hotel in Dongri.
